How we choose products

When we compare gadgets, we judge them on the things that matter to the person using them, not on the longest spec sheet.

What we look at

• What it actually does for a normal user, checked against the maker's own documentation.
• The full cost: the price, plus subscriptions, credits, consumables and running costs.
• Compatibility: which cars, phones or homes it works with, and the exceptions.
• What owners report: patterns in verified customer reviews, good and bad.
• Support and returns: warranty, updates and the seller's published return terms.

What we don't do

Unless a page says so, we have not lab-tested the products in it. Our comparisons are based on the makers' published specifications, documentation, prices and terms, independent reviews and owner feedback. We don't accept payment to change a ranking, and we never invent prices, guarantees or features. Prices and offers change, so always check the seller's page before you buy.
